Moris Beracha
Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Moris Beracha attended the Universidad Metropolitana. He majored in business administration, and under the tutelage of former Venezuela National Bank President Ruth Krivoy, researched and composed a thesis on the potential effects of the euro on Venezuela’s economy, titled “The Euro Bolivar: Implications in the Venezuelan Financial System.” Although the course of education he chose normally requires five years to complete, Moris Beracha finished in four-and-a-half. Following graduation, he entered the investment industry and worked on Wall Street, serving with such firms as broker-dealer Westfalia Investments, Inc. and Brown Montgomery Securities, the latter of which maintains a headquarters in London, England.
Moris Beracha held positions on the Boards of Directors for such companies as the Hispanic News Press, Inmobiliaria Yacambu C.A., Cartonera del Caribe C.A., Bestinvest Casa de Bolsa, Acco Manufacturing C.A., Banco Caracas C.A., Protinal/Proagro, and Corporación Leibe C.A. Moris Beracha eventually returned home to Venezuela, and during the past six years has launched a series of companies, including the investment firm Fractal Fund Management Group in 2005, the telecommunications company Celistics Holdings Group in 2007, and a subsidiary to Celistics Holdings Group called Movilway in 2010.
Outside of work, Moris Beracha supports charities such as The Smile Train, an organization that arranges corrective surgery for children in developing countries who have a cleft lip or palate, and The Doe Fund, Inc., which provides employment opportunities to homeless and low-income citizens. Moris Beracha also supports arts and educational programs such as the Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA) and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, the latter of which is based at Harvard University. For pleasure and edification, Moris Beracha enjoys reading the books of American billionaire Warren Buffet, Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran, Burmese Buddhist master Sadayawa U Pandita, and Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. For leisure activities, Moris Beracha prefers rock climbing, flying helicopters, and playing the drums or guitar.
